Chapter One: The Villainess Uses Her Charm
“Wellmy Liroud truly is a man-eater...”
This rumor began circulating after Wellmy started attending high society events again.
The young lady’s viciousness was infamous. It was said that for years she and her parents, Count Ernest and his wife, had mercilessly tormented her older sister, Iora. Wellmy had even seduced her sister’s fiancé and talked him into publicly calling off their engagement at their graduation party. She had gone as far as to steal Iora’s birthright from her by convincing Count Ernest to name her his heir, before selling her sister to Marquis Ormirage—known in noble society as the cruel and heartless lord of magic.
However, her reign of terror had come to an abrupt end at what was referred to as the “Banquet of Condemnation” hosted by Marquis Ormirage. Seeing her sister looking radiant at the arm of her fiancé, Wellmy had lashed out at her—only for the marquis to expose her and her family’s sins for all to see. Following that night, she, her parents, and her fiancé all vanished from high society.
Iora, the rightful heir of House Ernest, inherited the title. Count Ernest was hanged, his wife was sent to the convent, and Wellmy disappeared. At least, that was what everyone believed. Amid the rumors, Iora disappeared from noble society, just as the rest of her family had. No one dared to ask Lord Ormirage what had happened to her.

Some time later, a troupe sponsored by the marquis himself performed a play inspired by the events of that infamous night, spun into a beautiful, heartwarming tale. This earned Wellmy and Iora the support of the masses, but naturally, most nobles didn’t believe that moving story. However, they could sense from Wellmy’s portrayal in the play that the lord of magic held no ill will toward her.
Six months passed, and right as the new social season was about to begin, Wellmy suddenly returned to the spotlight. Not as Wellmy Ernest, but as the newly adopted daughter of Count Liroud—as well as a potential suitor for the crown prince.

She was a petite girl with youthful features, yet her fierce beauty radiated determination. Her platinum blonde hair, styled in her signature chignon, and bright vermilion eyes glowed brighter than ever. The same could be said for her allure and haughty arrogance—they had both been magnified since her last appearance in high society. What was more, she now resided in the Ormirages’ secondary residence, and it was said that the marquis himself frequently visited her.
All of the other nobles wondered what had happened. But Wellmy, indifferent to their horror and confusion, immediately began looking for men to seduce. The son of a count who was notorious for his womanizing ways, the knight lord admired for his peerless talent, the sharp-witted son of the kingdom’s chancellor, the heir of the marquis responsible for the nation’s grain storehouses, and even the second prince—all fell under her spell in no time.
Wellmy’s uninhibited, vicious behavior didn’t stop there. One night, she slapped away the hand of a noble lady—the daughter of a baron—with her fan, then dragged her out to the courtyard, where she made the young lady cry. At another party, Wellmy “accidentally” spilled wine on the dress of a duke’s daughter, who just so happened to also be in the running to marry the crown prince. Furthermore, she openly mocked the fiancée of one of the men in her entourage when the girl dared to confront her. Everyone wondered why the crown prince and Marquis Ormirage let her get away with such brazen behavior.
Still, the last key figure involved in Wellmy and the marquis’s confrontation that fateful night—the one who should have been the future Marchioness Ormirage, Iora—remained unseen.

At last, the royal family announced that they would be holding a party to reveal the crown prince’s future fiancée. This got the rumor mill spinning even faster. Some lamented that Wellmy, not content with having stolen her sister’s fiancé, had also gotten her hands on the lord of magic and the crown prince. Others protested her attitude, demanding to know why the crown let her do as she pleased. Meanwhile, another group suspected it was all a scheme orchestrated by Marquis Ormirage, using Wellmy as a pawn to control the kingdom from the shadows.
The night of the party finally came. Among the guests, two nervous young ladies stuck out like sore thumbs. Both had been on the receiving end of Wellmy’s ire in the past. One, a girl with light pink hair and silver eyes, had been named by the Church as a contender for the title of saint. She was Theresalo, the daughter of a baron. The other had blonde ringlets and green eyes, and hailed from a ducal family. Her name was Darristea.
The two of them were staring at Wellmy, who stood chitchatting with five men, none of whom were the crown prince.
Eventually, the king made his appearance, and the party began peacefully—at least, on the surface. A certain individual laughed inwardly in anticipation of what was to come.

This performance featured three young ladies and five young men. Naturally, Wellmy Liroud would be playing the leading role.
The curtain rose on an elaborately crafted comedy of despair—all according to a certain pierrot’s plan.
