Chapter 54: The Dream Home Plan
Although I did not meet her in person, I heard through one of Banc’s subordinates that Aria had safely awakened.
Apparently, she woke up early in the morning on the day after everyone had exhausted themselves from all the commotion. A staff member on night watch was making the rounds when they found Aria sitting up in bed, gazing at the sunrise through the window beside her.
Eula, who had remained by her side, seemed to have continued crying even after I left. She had eventually cried herself to sleep, curled up at Aria’s feet. As a result, their long-awaited reunion happened the moment she woke up to the startled shout of the night-watch staff member.
“Well, I suppose this is the best outcome we could have hoped for.”
Aria’s physician had predicted that she would eventually wake up, but considering she had been asleep for nearly a year, part of me had worried she might never open her eyes again.

Fortunately, those fears proved unfounded. According to reports, the building that Banc had rented during the Royal Capital Black Market event had been in an uproar every day since she woke up.
Banc's subordinate, who brought me this news, had deep dark circles under his eyes and looked utterly worn out, likely from dealing with the continuous celebrations.

“This should go here.”
After hearing that Aria was safe, I began preparing a residence for her and Eula. Ordinarily, this would not be something I needed to do myself. However, Aria had only just awakened, and more importantly, she was not a slave.
As for Eula, she was probably not fully recovered either. Being displayed before crowds throughout the entire month-long black market event must have been incredibly stressful. Then, after all that, Aria—the person most precious to her—had finally woken up.
And since I was working alone, I was secretly planning to bring over all sorts of furniture from Japan. I could not place anything too conspicuous in my room at the Dawnmoon Brigade team house because the other members might notice.

On the other hand, the residence I had prepared this time was conveniently close to the brigade team house and located in one of the safest neighborhoods in the South District. It was also fairly close to the Central District, in what could best be described as an upper-middle-class residential area inhabited by commoners with ties to the nobility.
As expected of royal authority, the arrangement was not a rental—it was an outright purchase. Unexpected though it was, now that I had a home I could use indefinitely, I planned to furnish it entirely with items from Japan. The house itself was a single-story building, but it had a yard and was fully enclosed by walls. Optional security enchantments could also be added, making it surprisingly secure.
“Installing solar panels would probably be difficult for an amateur, huh...?”
Considering Eula was bound by a slave-contract spell and Aria could barely interact with other people, the chances of either of them leaking information about the things or knowledge I intended to bring over were extremely low. That meant I could plan things much more freely. Still, is wanting to use home appliances whenever the opportunity presents itself just the nature of someone from the modern world?

“No, wait. This world does have things that generate electricity. Maybe that would work? But I have no idea how much power they produce. I’ll probably have to consult Akira-san.”
In my original world, electricity was generated in numerous ways—thermal power, nuclear power, geothermal energy, hydroelectric plants—and then distributed across society. In contrast, this world had no electrical appliances whatsoever. Even streetlights operated using mysterious materials unique to this world. As a result, the world of Asphial functioned perfectly well without electricity.

Here, electricity was primarily known as a form of offensive magic. Unlike fire or wind, it was considered an advanced and difficult element to control. Lightning magic was classified as one of the basic elemental attributes. Unlike holy magic or healing magic, it required neither special talent nor aptitude. As long as a person possessed mana and learned the spell, anyone could use it. That meant I did not necessarily need to purchase electricity-generating materials. Either Eula or I could simply produce electricity ourselves if we mastered lightning magic.
“I wonder if Eula or Aria already knows lightning magic?”
Powering home appliances with lightning magic... realistically, things probably would not be that simple. Still, if we could at least recharge a large battery, that would be enough.
Thinking about such things, I continued preparing for their arrival.
“I heard you bought a house recently.”
As I busied myself making arrangements for Eula and Aria, a voice suddenly called out to me. It was Saioji.

“Yeah. I bought a single-story house closer to the Central District.”
“You managed to buy one? It must have been expensive.”
Saioji spoke not like a superior addressing a subordinate, but more like an acquaintance casually making conversation.
For a brief moment, I wondered if she had somehow discovered the truth about Eula. However, judging from the way she spoke, she simply seemed curious about my new house.
“Well, it wasn’t cheap. But I paid for it all at once.”
Even with Sakakibara’s introduction, it was one of the best locations a commoner could hope to buy in the royal capital, so the price had been substantial.

Still, the products I brought from Japan yielded profits that could only be described as outrageous. In just about two months, I had earned enough to purchase prime real estate in the capital outright with cash.
Of course, the downside was that my savings account now looked considerably less impressive.

“Taking on debt in this world isn’t wise. Interest rates are high, and debt collection sounds far harsher than in Japan. Paying in full was the smart choice.”
Apparently, when Saioji bought the brigade’s team house, she had also avoided borrowing money and paid the full amount up front.
“Well, I had the means. I never considered going into debt just to buy a house.”
I had assumed it was merely idle conversation. However, judging by Saioji’s demeanor, it felt like she had some other purpose in mind. At the same time, directly asking her felt awkward.

As we continued talking, she eventually raised a different question.
“...Then all your furniture is going to come from the other world?”
“Yeah. I don’t really have any reason to insist on using furniture from this world.”
For a moment, I thought perhaps she wanted some Japanese-made furniture herself, then she said something entirely unexpected.

“I’d like to visit your house...”
“Huh?”

“I’d like you to let me come over. I know it’s a rather presumptuous request, but lately... I haven’t had anywhere I can truly relax.”
As the captain of the brigade, Saioji spent most of her time at the team house.
She usually worked in her office there and maintained her combat training just enough to avoid losing her edge. If someone needed her, they could almost always find her at the team house. She was practically confined there.
“I understand the feeling, but how does that lead to wanting to come to my house?”
Given her age, she should still be in the prime of her youth, but the responsibilities she carried meant she was constantly overwhelmed with work. It was easy to understand why stress had built up. The team house served as both her workplace and her home, so I could also understand why she found it difficult to relax there.
But even so, I could not understand why that led her to my house. If she simply wanted somewhere peaceful, she could find another residence of her own or even rent a private room at an inn somewhere in the royal capital.

That was precisely why I could not understand why she wanted to visit my home.
