Chapter 12: Otherworlders Read Japan's Popular Manga
The manga Yume Koi was created after I died.
Apparently, it had been extremely popular back when Saioji still lived in Japan. It was a classic romantic comedy. The story begins after the heroine, a girl named Katagiri Renka, defeats the monster responsible for the chaos in the world of dreams where she had spent her adventures.
The first half of Volume 1 follows Renka's journey through the dream world. Various races appear throughout her adventures, and important moments, meetings, farewells, and major turning points are shown in a digest-like fashion.
Yume Koi—its full title being You Fall in Love in a Dream—is exactly what the name suggests. Renka experiences countless adventures in the dream world and falls in love with a certain man.
However, at the time, she is so focused on defeating the culprit who trapped her in the dream world that she never realizes her own feelings. In the end, she returns to reality without being united with her first love.

Before her stood Kyle—the human companion she had traveled with in the dream world. And not only that, he was also Orphis, the great hero of the dream realm. For some reason, he now existed in reality. And Kyle was none other than Renka's first love...
This prologue set the stage for Yume Koi, a school romantic comedy centered around Renka and the various men she had met in her dreams. Among them was Kyle, a mysterious, handsome young man who looks cool and composed but has a surprisingly absent-minded side due to his upbringing in another world.

...Well, Saioji basically spoiled all of that while we were walking today.
During our long journey earlier, Saioji—who was apparently a huge Yume Koi fan—had given me what was essentially a complete plot summary. Contrary to her cool appearance, she talked so enthusiastically that I felt bad interrupting her. She even explained parts I hadn't asked about.

From the way she described it, this was a manga that every transmigrant from her era of Japan would recognize. It had been adapted into an anime, a stage play, and, shortly before Saioji was transported to Asphial, it had even been slated for a live-action television drama.

In the distance, I could hear laughter from other adventurer parties and the howls of beasts echoing through the forest. Meanwhile, the women holding the Yume Koi manga didn't say a single word.
They had gathered closely around Camille, who held the book, and were reading by the light of the campfire.
